Apple overhauled its iPad series at the May event, marking what Tim Cook described as “the most significant day for iPad since its debut.” The revamped lineup includes upgraded iPad Air and iPad Pro models, along with the introduction of a new Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard. Additionally, Apple has reduced the price of the existing 10-inch iPad, now starting at $349. The event, titled “Let Loose,” was livestreamed on Apple’s YouTube channel and website.

Apple Pencil Pro

Apple unveiled the Apple Pencil Pro designed to complement the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air models. One standout feature is the ability to activate a selected tool by simply squeezing the pencil, alongside enhanced precision control enabled by a built-in gyroscope. The Pencil Pro now supports FindMy, allowing users to locate it via the Find My app if misplaced. Like its predecessor, the Pencil Pro attaches magnetically for storage and charging convenience. Priced at $129, the new Apple Pencil Pro will hit shelves next week.

New Magic Keyboard

According to Apple, the Magic Keyboard has undergone a redesign to be slimmer and lighter, perfectly complementing the new, thinner iPad Pro. Available in two colors to match the new Pro models, it features a row of function keys and an aluminum trackpad for enhanced usability. The Magic Keyboard will be offered in two sizes, starting at $299 for the 11-inch version and $349 for the 13-inch model.

New iPad Pro

The upcoming iPad Pro will be offered in silver and space black and will showcase a cutting-edge display technology called Tandem OLED, utilizing two OLED panels. Both sizes of the iPad Pro will benefit from these advanced display features. Additionally, the new iPad Pro will debut the powerful M4 chip, a significant leap from the M2, promising a fourfold increase in performance according to Apple.

The camera system has been enhanced for improved document scanning capabilities. These new iPad Pro models are set to launch next week, with the 11-inch variant starting at $999 and the 13-inch version starting at $1299.

New iPad Air

Apple’s new iPad Air lineup expands with two size options: an 11-inch display and a larger 13-inch display, both featuring the updated M2 chip. Notable changes include repositioning the front-facing camera to the landscape edge and introducing spatial audio capabilities.

In terms of aesthetics, new color choices like blue and purple join the existing starlight and space gray finishes. These iPads are compatible with the Magic Keyboard and offer expanded storage options of 512GB and 1TB.

The 11-inch iPad Air is priced starting at $599, while the 13-inch variant starts at $799.

Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro updates

Apple unveiled exciting updates for Final Cut Pro, including a live multicam feature that enables users to connect and switch between up to four cameras seamlessly. Additionally, they introduced Final Cut Camera, a new app for iPhone and iPad that facilitates video shoots by connecting up to four iOS devices.

In the realm of audio production, Logic Pro received enhancements with new drums and effects, now leveraging machine learning to deliver intricate sound modeling capabilities. These innovations represent Apple’s commitment to advancing creative tools for video and audio professionals.

Upcoming Apple event

Today’s event precedes Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) by about a month. The WWDC is scheduled to take place online from June 10 to 14. During this event, Apple typically unveils new features and updates for its operating systems across various devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and more.
