WASHINGTON A federal judge decided on Thursday that Steve Bannon, a close ally of former President Donald Trump
The Justice Department requested that Bannon start his prison sentence, and U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols in Washington granted their request
Bannon was found guilty of contempt of Congress, which was upheld last month by a federal appeals court panel.
Bannon can ask for the judge's order to be stayed, which would postpone the date of his surrender.
Outside the courthouse, Bannon told reporters, "I have great lawyers, and we're prepared to take this all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary
Trump claimed in a social media tweet on Thursday that the prosecution was "desperate" to put Bannon in jail.
