Mark Lajal, the top men’s tennis player from Estonia, rose more than twenty spots in the most recent tennis world rankings, which were made public on Monday.
When Lajal qualified for Wimbledon a week ago, he was ranked 269th by the ATP. He performed admirably against the reigning champion and eventual winner, Carlos Alcaraz (Spain), which moved the Estonian up 23 spots to 246th.
Meanwhile, veteran women’s player Kaia Kanepi has dropped 114 places to 397th. The WTA has slipped 11 spots in the last week, and Maileen Nuudi is now rated 561st, while Jelena Malõgina, the most recent local champion, is now placed 469th.
Daniil Glinka, the second-ranked men’s tennis player in Estonia, fell six spots to 425th in the world rankings of the ATP.
Although Kristjan Tamm just won the domestic championship, he fell 38 places to 1,169th, while Oliver Ojakäär moved up somewhat to 906th.
Barbora Krejcikova, the recent Wimbledon champion from the Czech Republic, is currently ranked 10th in the world in the WTA rankings, while Jasmine Paolini, the runner-up from Italy, is now ranked fifth.
Following Wimbledon, the top four female players are still as follows: Pole Iga Swiatek continues to be the leader, followed by American Coco Gauff, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, and Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina.
Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) and Marketa Vondroušova (Czech Republic), the runners-up and winners of Wimbledon last year, fell out of the top 10, and are currently ranked 16th and 18th, respectively.
Despite Carlos Alcaraz’s victory over Sinner in Sunday’s Wimbledon men’s singles final, Novak Djokovic remains one spot ahead of the former in the men’s ATP rankings.
