Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round at Rogers Place on Wednesday saw the Los Angeles Kings defeat the Edmonton Oilers 5–4 thanks to a goal from Anze Kopitar 2:07 into overtime.

With a half breakaway, Kopitar—who also had two assists—beat Stuart Skinner glove side after skating into a deflected pass by Quinton Byfield in the attacking zone.
Adrian Kempe led the Kings, the third-seeded team in the Pacific Division, with two goals and two assists from Byfield. 27 saves were made by Cam Talbot.

The No. 2 seed Oilers from the Pacific had two goals from Dylan Holloway and two assists from each of Leon Draisaitl and Mattias Janmark. Skinner stopped 21 shots.
The series best-of-seven is level.

At 3:19 of the first quarter, Kempe gave the Kings a 1-0 lead. Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard attempted to clear the ball, but Kopitar stopped him and passed to Kempe, who fired a glove-side shot from the high slot that beat Skinner.
At 14:57, Kempe made it 2-0. Bouchard diverted Kopitar’s backhand saucer pass during a 3-on-2 rush, but Kempe was still able to swat it out of the air and beyond Skinner’s glove.
At 17:33, Brett Kulak made it 2-1 after slapping a shot from the top of the left circle that beat Talbot’s blocker side after skating into a drop pass from Draisaitl.

Doughty hadn’t scored in a postseason game since the 2014 Stanley Cup Final’s opening game.
At 7:51 of the second period, Holloway made it 3-2 by beating Talbot under his glove with a wrist shot after receiving a pass from Sam Carrick in the high slot.
At 10:33, Zach Hyman, who scored three goals on the power play in Game 1, tied the score at three. After Draisaitl made a cross-ice pass, he buried a one-timer from the left circle into an open net.

At 1:46 of the third, Kevin Fiala gave the Kings a 4-3 lead with a one-timer that seemed to take Skinner off guard as it went along the right boards.
At 3:23, Holloway knotted the game 4–4, hitting a shot glove side from the upper half.
