DeGeneres, who made a significant cultural impact by coming out on her 1990s sitcom, has faced a mixed reputation since ending her two-decade-long talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” During her recent stand-up performance, she addressed the allegations that led to the show’s conclusion, including claims of fostering a hostile, racist, and sexist work environment, claiming to have been “kicked out of show business for being mean” to the crowd.
She humorously added, “Next time, I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay, and mean: the triple crown,” and defended herself by saying, “I am many things, but I am not mean.”
At 66, DeGeneres plans to release her Netflix special later this year, as mentioned in an Instagram post.
