The first teaser for Captain America: Brave New World featured a lot of important talking points, including some notable alterations from the CinemaCon trailer that were probably taken down for one of two reasons.
First, Isaiah Bradley tried to kill the Commander-in-Chief after brainwashing akin to that of Winter Soldier was activated, then President Ross was shown at CinemaCon pleading with Sam Wilson to “rebuild The Avengers.” Marvel Studios was careful not to reveal too much in this sneak peek.
The second possibility is that recent reshoots removed those plot beats and the Serpent Society, as reported by numerous social media scoopers.
Fortunately, The Leader is still a crucial character. We’ll have to wait and see.
There are two glimpses of the renowned Hulk adversary in the Captain America: Brave New World trailer, which we’re sure most of you noticed because it’s difficult to miss.
Samuel Sterns is identified as the mysterious guy below in the sneak peek’s subtitles, and if the green hand is any clue, we’re also quite sure he’s taking a picture at the White House. Based on what we can see, The Leader’s ridiculously big head isn’t nearly the same size as the one he appears in comic books!
So, is Sterns the real antagonist in the film? If you’re familiar with the source material, you’ll be aware that he is the man responsible for creating Red Hulk and that, as we’ve already seen in the MCU, he enjoys creating Super Soldiers. Is he now trying to get Ross to pay for keeping him imprisoned in the lab that we see in other parts of the trailer?
Sam becomes involved in an international crisis after his meeting with the newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, portrayed by Harrison Ford in his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before the real mastermind makes the entire planet turn red, he needs to uncover the motivation behind a sinister worldwide conspiracy.
